Say Yes to Taekwondo!
In 1977, the Lebanon Taekwondo became a member of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), the primary governing body for the sport globally. During this period, the Federation was encompassed various sports, not limited to Taekwondo but also including Judo and Karate.
Subsequently, the Lebanese Taekwondo Federation was formally established in Lebanon through Decree No. 297/89 in 1989. This decree underwent modification in 1991 under No. 32/91. At that time, Mr. Mohamed Al Khaleeli held the presidency of the Lebanese Taekwondo Federation.
As an active member of the Lebanese Olympic Committee, the Lebanese Taekwondo Federation played a significant role in elevating the status of the sport within the country.
Following Al Khaleeli’s , Ms. Carine Lahoud was elected as the first woman to assume the presidency of the union. Subsequently, Ms. Sophie Jelwan Abou Jaoudeh served as president from 2013 to 2016 then Dr. Habib Zarifeh assumed the presidency of the federation since 2016 and still.
